Effective January 1, 2008, spare lithium batteries – extra batteries not installed on devices – will no longer be allowed in checked baggage. Spare lithium batteries may be packed in carry-on baggage and lithium batteries installed in a device may be packed in either checked or carry-on, as long as the battery is installed in the device.

Over the past two weeks with the demolition of the former Walgreen store, I’ve noticed that even jack-hamming and other heavy construction noise will not deter the cellphone users who “politely” leave our neighbor, the Wine Star, and camp in front of our store and yap away. These people do not seem to realize if they’d walk the other direction, they would encounter far less noise.

Update: Our lines were working as of 10:30PM.

I never knew how much people would visit out sites (this blog and firesidecamera.com) but you do and thanks! fireisdecamera.com has gotten almost 1300 hits since the beginning of the year and this blog, which is also referred from the homepage, has received almost about 1700 since Aug ’06 when it was started. Thanks again to all who visit and make use of our sites!

Under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI)

The proposed implementation timeline has two phases:

Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable.
As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.

It has come to our attention that a limited number of products, manufactured before March 2004, and incorporating a certain type of image sensor device (CCD), may exhibit the following:

When the product is used in camera mode, the LCD panel and/or electronic viewfinder exhibits either a distorted image or no image at all.

We have determined that this only occurs in a limited number of devices, but may be accelerated if they are exposed to hot and humid environments.

Until September 30, 2008, Sony will repair, free of charge, affected products exhibiting the above-mentioned symptom where it is caused by the image sensor device. Sony will also cover the cost of shipping and handling from and to addresses within the United States and US Territories for service to correct this issue.”
